Default Wanted - Alloy wheels

Hello folks,

I'm looking for a set of alloys for my 740 Hearse, I need to repalce the 17" renault steel wheels as the offset is wrong and I can't be dealing with removing/cutting off the adaptor plates everytime I need access behind the wheel... Not to mention having to cut the wheel bolts for them to fit!

Ideally someone would have a set of 17" Polaris alloys tucked away for me, as I could swap my current tyres across to them (attached thumbnail) and they are a standard fit (5*108, ET25 etc).

Otherwise, the OH And I have been looking at what is available and a set of 16" 960/V90/S90 alloys would be great - even better if they have usable, decent tyres. There are a couple advertised on ebay just now, but seem a little pricey to me (correct me if i'm wrong!). I think we'll gove 15" a miss, as with the massive body of the hearse, I think it'll look out of proportion - the 17" current steelies do look really good, shame the offset is so wrong

The OH particularly likes these, but I also quite fancy these ones, we're not too keen on the style with lots of spokes though like these.

Let me know ehat you have

Hi Deeps, thanks for your reply - a set of 4 is what we're after and ideally I need them a bit sooner! The Hearse is taking up more of the drive than normal (to access both sides) and is on axle stands at the rear, as soon as I have sorted the rear brakes out the rear wheels need to go on and we can move it back over.

Out of curiosity, how much would you be asking for them?

That sounds very reasonable! Can I just confirm the offset of them? My internet searches have given me conflicting offsets, both ET25 (what I need) and ET43 which is almost the same as the steel wheels I need to replace.

On that note, were there other 960 alloys with an offset ET43? Does this mean I am restricted to 940 and 740 15" alloys? Bother!

Tom, did you ever get a conclusive answer as to the offset of 960 16” wheels? The stock 15” rims on my diesel 940 need refurbing, and I’m debating whether to get that done or change them for some 960/V90 16s if the offset matches.

Hey man, not a conclusive answer no. However all the 16" wheels I looked at were ET43, and the various wheelsize.com etc websites all list the 960's as ET43 too.

I was hoping for a set of the 17" Polairs alloys so I could re-use the tyres I have, but i'm not convinced they'd look any good on the hearse anyway! It appears they are quite rare, and expensive when they do pop up too.

As far as i know Phil, the Mk1 960 used ET25 wheels, same as the 940 and 740/760, it was the later Mk2 960 that changed to the FWD ET 43 offset and the S/V90 will have the same, being FWD as well.

If you can find some 940/early 960 alloys with ET25 in either 15 or 16 inch they should work for you.
