Default Volvo S40 1.8 (54reg) Battery replaced but wont start

Hi,

I’m a new member and looking for some advice.

My car: Volvo s40, 1.8 p, 2005

Problems thus far:

* battery died as the vehicle was not in use for months
* replacement battery with brand new Bosch battery and car won’t start. I get power and dash display lights up but car will not turn.
* checked battery with multimeter and fine.
* tried jump start and nothing.
* tried towing and kick start and nothing.
* when turning the ignition all you hear is an electrical buzz sound and car doesn’t turn.
* suspected the battery is drained from the siren control module and ordered a replacement modul. Awaiting delivery.
* low battery on key message appears on dash intermittently.

Questions:

* If the battery in the siren control module is gone or if you removed the unit can you still start the car?
* is it an immobiliser issue?
* what other checks can be done and advice on how to do it I.e. alternator/starter checks?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Cheers
San

This message doesn't come up on the classic S/V40 that this forum deals with. I suspect you have the S40 based on the ford Focus chassis and is a completely different car - hence no replies on here. Try posting in the S40/V50/C30 forum and you may have better luck.
