If they are vertical holes then they must be fan jets (??), though mine are deep within a vertical, rectangular hole...

They seem to spray in a fan pattern. I'm not sure if they're heated though, as I've never tested that to be honest.

So I used my washers earlier & they spray in four directions like a fan. Even though there's two pin holes (vertical), there must be something else to direct the water four ways instead of two.

Used my new fan jet washers for a while now and I'm very pleased - "refill screen washer" just came up for the first time since the upgrade and that means it's using roughly a third of the amount of fluid it used to with traditional jets (based on mileage). I initially thought they were aimed a bit low, but it's working really well out on the road.

I have followed this thread with interest, as my washer jets(??) on my 2010 XC70 needed replacing. I initially read this thread with a view to doing the job myself, but as there appeared to be confusion as to what parts were required (jet or spray) - I held off.
The car was MOT in late-July and passed despite washers being very poor. I use an "Indy" and they said they would order the parts and they could be fitted in a few minutes when they arrived. I took the car in today at 2.55pm and was back on the road before 3.10pm. The washers are working perfectly. They appear to give a "spray" rather than jet and the part number was 31301827. So two washer jets and delivery valves + labour - Total cost £86.04
