Taking an educated guess at the fluid temperature is one thing but how do you reset the fluid counter without diagnostics?
I would either do the job right or save my money until I can do the job right. It's like having 4 brand new tyres fitted then guessing the pressure until they look about right.

Apart from having a fixed ratio transfer case for the rear axle on the four wheel drive model, the actual Haldex system is part of the rear differential, in front of the drive pinion. This obviously has its own reservoir and uses Haldex recommended fluid, apart from the differential itself which has a different fluid. The main transmission has only two gear sets which make up a Ravigneaux gearset. The final drive including the differential runs in the transmission fluid, contrary to what you seem to imply above. This fluid is Toyota World Standard ATF or its many equivalent fluids form various brands. However, the transfer case, where fitted, that turns the drive to the propshaft that leads to the rear axle has a separate reservoir that is filled with gear oil. Hope that clears any confusion up. EDIT I've been scratching my head about this and can't honestly remember whether the bit in bold above is accurate. I'm not at all certain that the transfer case is a separate reservoir in this transmission. The more I think about it the less sure I get.
