Brake pad contact
Sometimes I feel it's better to put my pride aside and ask for help. I come to you with my tail between my legs.
Last week I changed the front brake pads on my 06 V70 d5 after discovering they were dangerously low. As a matter of expediency I was able to get a set of pagid pads from eurocarparts. Yesterday, when I bothered to check on them I noticed a ring of rust on the lower part of the disc where the bottom of the pads weren't making contact with the disc (see image). Yikes. Two things of note. 1. The new pads didn't have a clip on the outside pad. 2. The caliper seems to lift up when I attach the retaining clip. Appreciating in hindsight that I should have exercised more caution, does anyone know what I've done wrong? |

Correct front brake spring position
The loop part of the spring goes below the caliper end as in the screen shot taken from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kh8wQNHbedo by "Peppermint"

Hi.
1. The retainer clip is incorrectly fitted . See area in red = The clip should be on other side of the lug. 2. The inboard brake pad should have a circular shaped spring clip that pops into the caliper piston. The outboard brake pad does not. |
