Default Volvo sales up more than 40%

Seems the pandemic hasn't had a negative impact on Volvo's figures. Volvo sold more cars globally this first quarter than ever before. In the UK Volvo reached both the largest number in a quarter but also the highest market share ever.

Volvo are up 15% on their previous best result (2019). Not bad considering they have production issues due to chip shortages.

XC40 is the 6th most popular car for sale in the UK.

Good news as I think they have made some good styling designs in recent years, whilst not things of beauty, they certainly look classy compared to the other offerings.

However, a few colleague with new V90s are left unimpressed due to small quality woes which, seems to be sadly accepted norm in this day and age.

UK XC40 sales in Q1 2021 are within couple of hundred units of the entire Volvo range in Q1 2011. That is quite the turnaround.

As a former V90 owner I can say the quality on the 2018 model was very good, nothing to disappoint, hopefully they can maintain quality with increased sales.

Someone parked their brand new S90 next to my old MK1 V70 in asda car park. Couldnt help but peer through their windows and gosh the interior looked nice.

Also, the thing about the current Volvo SUVs is that they DONT look generic like most of the cheaper brand crossovers. They have the same level of distinct identity as BMW, Merc and Audi from a visual perspective and I think people are starting to notice the brand now. Seen a few idiots driving them as well.

Im interested to see the NEXT incarnations of Volvo models as I suspect they will be looking very sharp.
