Fault Codes - HELP!
Hi guys,
I have a 2010 Volvo S40 2.0D Long term reader here. I have had intermittent problems with my car for a while. The TCV was not sorted by replacing the valve. Someone on this forum said there were two on this vehicle? I am attaching snip of my fault codes... can someone help. Anything relatively straightforward? Constant limp mode and very limited power!! https://www.dropbox.com/s/4zzwcodwj1...lt%20Codes.PNG |

Looks like one of the problems is a clogged particulate filter?
The second one is turbo control related. The turbo control system is controlled by vacuum and can fail due to: 1) Vacuum hose detachment; 2) Vacuum hose failure/splitting; 3) Failure of solenoids (TCVs) - both electronical and mechanical; 4) Failure of turbo actuator. Can't help you with the particulate filter. Regarding the turbo control issues, you can read through the thread where I write about my journey with diagnosing the same thing on my 2.0D. |

Thanks for the reply.
Yeah DPF issue im hopeful can be resolved with static regen but it doesn’t seem to want to work. Im thinking because other fault codes are present? Is it possible that a turbo issue has been caused by the dreaded DPF? I have replaced a TCV on the car but with no change to this fault. Have checked the vacuum hoses and there is no obvious concerns. If you could point me in the direction of your thread, I will get a read at it. I have taken the car two a couple of indy garages now and they basically can give me no answers. Last question, can you buy the actuator separate for this turbo and is it a huge job? |

Mine doesn't have a dpf so I can't really help you with that. The actuator can be changed out without removing the turbo (or so I was told) but it's hard to get to, so I wouldn't do it myself. The red TCV error that you have is the one that needs to be fixed first. Connecting and disconnecting vacuum hoses doesn't trigger it on mine. I've only had it twice - once when I forgot to plug in the TCV and another time when I swapped the TCVs around (mine has two different kinds and as it turns out, they're not interchangeable on the Euro3). Your car probably has 3 solenoids, two operate the anti shudders and one is a proper TCV solenoid. Read through the thread and you should be able to understand the system better |
