Default Over rev problem

Hi I'm new here and to volvo's I have a 2006 volvo xc90 2.4 d5 185bhp I bought it not long ago and the person said it needed a throttle pedal it sits idle at 1500 revs hold the brake pedal down and it idles back down and ticks over lovley but let ya foot of the brake pedal and it shoots back up to 1500 revs I put it on computer it said that needs a throttle position sensor ive changed the throttle body on the engine and the pedal and the problem is still here with abs light on 2 something about anti skid off absalute any help would be much appreciated please 😀 thank you

If it helps I have just had the same problem on my c30 d5 185 and it was the fuse for the pedal sensor it had oxidised and the connections too I put a new fuse in and sprayed contact cleaner and touchwood it has been fine since.

Mine was a 10a fuse but I’m sure on the xc90 it’s a 20a mini fuse I think position 11 but not 100% sure but it controls the aircon too.

Get it plugged into some proper Volvo gear - it will more than likely tell you exactly what is wrong. Generic readers often give generic error messages... you will also be able to see the values being returned from the pedal sensor.

Thank you o have been told its a fuse last night so will try all of them today and thank you I will try volvo for diagnostic aswel if this doesn't work thank you all
