Default 1973 P1800ES for sale

It's mine, it's lovely, I'm selling it.

If I'm honest with myself, I'm just not the sort of bloke who should have a classic car. I'm finding the maintenance and whatever a bit of a drain.

So, anyway, I don't know that much about cars, but I'll do my best to answer any questions. Happy to talk about a fair price, and I'd be interested in any feedback.....

This car has been seriously devalued without the original B20E Electronic fuel injection 135bhp Engine.

Ah, OK. The chap I bought it from said that the fuel injection gubbins was swapped to a normal carb at some point in the past because the early fuel injection system on thesevwas often problematic. Does that sound feasible?

Yes, often the case where an owner won’t seek out the qualified repair shop, and/or won’t put the effort in the effort learn enough to be able to diagnose and repair . Also some complain about the cost and availability of parts for D-Jet , yes they are available with some effort and can be somewhat costly, but not prohibitive. And why buy a classic car and then turn it into something else?
I’ve seen many complain about SU carbs, and then put a Weber carb on , a real abomination! And Webers have their problems too.

GLWTS.

Don't be too disheartened. If it drives well and the key mechanicals are in good order, and no serious hidden rot, it should sell.

They took the easiest route ,They knew nothing about the fuel injection system so took the easiest route out ... They were very reliable , these cars were doing 30000+ miles a year back when current .
Servicing is every 6000 miles remember .

I would personally prefer the alteration to twin carbs. At least they are user friendly and can be easily maintained once you understand how to strip and set them up!

Not sure about the rust free bit though! A full respray in 2017 wouldn't necessarily show the true horrors yet 🤔 and £20,000 is a little on the steep side in my opinion. Please don't take offence, just my humble opinion.

All the best though.

Many thanks, I really appreciate you taking the time.

Tbh, I'm really not sure where to price this. Can anyone chime in?

The value is down to how much filler is present! Not the mechanical condition. This is quite a skill on these cars to work out when it has had a fairly recent paint job! If the paint is very good you may get lucky, but i would be all over it with a magnet i'm afraid. Although the door gaps, especially around the sill area look very good! The rear drivers wing blending into the sill appears to have been resprayed at a different time to the rest of the car looking at the close up picture of it. Or is that just the shading?
