Advice needed.
My 940 sports edition rear nivos need replacing, now after contacting the seller on here of the only sports I know of that is being broken either on here or locally, and getting a buff response, I am now left with the only choice of buying new. Now until I can afford new, I have a 740 estate, which had new rear shocks and springs fitted not long before it was put off the road, but they are the standard ones, and as you know the sports has lowered nivos. Now my question is this, if I was to change the nivos and springs for the standard ones off the 740, would it upset the front end which would still have the lowered setup?? I do not have the front struts as they were sold some time ago to a member on here who was in a similar situation to me, in that he needed new but could not afford to buy new, and I was able to help out with the parts he needed, after all that is what being a VOC member was all about I thought, but it seems some are not of that thinking.
So what if any issues will there be to run around for a few weeks or maybe a month or two, with standard rear springs and shocks, and the sports lowered front set up?? Any advice is welcome Cheers Stephen

I would prefer to keep it as standard and genuine as possible, I know the wheels are the wrong colour, but I do like them that way, but other than that it is as it should be. Will be getting prices tomorrow, I know they wont be cheap, but as these ones have done over 200,000 as far as I know, then another genuine set will be more than good enough.

Certainly it would be ok using standard height rears with the lowered fronts. I run my 240 estate with lowered front and heavy duty rears and even empty handles veyr well.

James I always use Lloyds in Carlisle, get very good deals there, just need to be sitting down when I get the price.
Cheers Mike for that, will see what the price is, and maybe go ahead with the standard ones until I can afford the nivos.

Lowered Nivos?
Hi,
Sorry but I can't really help with the standard spring question, but I would have thought there wouldn't be much of a problem as long as everything bolts up ok, which it should. Biggest problem being that it'll look a bit jacked-up at the back! I didn't know the sports had lowered Nivos, I've got a 960 and I've been looking into lowering it, but with the IRS it's a right PITA, I was wondering if the ones off a 940 Sports would fit?? If only it was as simple as the front!! Thanks, Steve

Nivo's
HI again SE,
I know your dilemma to a T. I wanted to go the Bilstein route.... and nearly bought the set on ebay recently. I got the clutch kit from the same guy...however..the only lowered springs which seem to come up for our cars are 40mm lowered..ours are 25mm and IMHO.any lower would be a downright pain in the rear end...literally! He had them as two lots..so if I just bought the 'Billy' HD shocks..what to do about 1 x set of rear springs?? I may put 'Billys' up front..but Nivo's are awesome...when my old units were functioning well..I had a 210lb (yes you read that correct) Home Cinema Amplifier in the back of the car...as close to the tailgate as possible...and the car sat perfectly level..and I didn't even know it was in there...honest!
