Default Retro Fit Cruise Control V70 T5SE 2007

Hi
Does any one know how much work and what would be involved in Retro Fitting a Cruise Control on a V70 T5SE 2007?

I believe this is a very easy job to have done, although I'm suprised on an a 2007 V70 SE T5 spec vehicle that cruise is not there as standard.

If I'm correct all that is required is the steering wheel control (button block) then the car would need a software update (expensive part) via a Volvo dealer - Part no 9438235 (software).

Have you also got the Audio steering wheel buttons too or not? This again is just a simple Audio block buttons except they are plug and play and require no software update.

Job done.

Just had a check on VIDA and there are different part numbers for the cruise block you'll need depending on what colour of steering wheel you have and also wether or not it is a 3 or 4 spoke wheel - Oak, Sand/Beige or Charcoal.

Thanks, SonyVaio
The trouble with buying a police spec V70 T5 SE is that they remove most of the goodies and cruise for a patrol car seems to be the first thing to go : o (

Sounds great to me though, I do need the audio buttons too and if the steering wheel cover comes with the connector and buttons and we find all the connectors underneath then robert is your mother's brother. My suspicion is removal of the steering wheel cover and replacement with a blank version with no downgrade of the ECU. Time to hit Ebay and see if I can find a tame Volvo mechanic to help.

Thanks again!
Leon

If it once had it and it has been removed then a software update is supposed to be done to tell the ECU that no CC exists. You may get lucky and it has not has the downgrade software and could be a case of plug and play for your CC too.

I would also expect that the connectors and everything is there and you just need to swap the blank plates for the CC and audio blocks.

Police cars are a special delivery order from Volvo, so they can be fitted with whatever spec the buyer wanted.

You would have a constant DTC from SWM and ECM if the car was configured with a cruise control but with no switches present.

Also if you connect your car to VIDA, you can see from the car config if its equipped with a cruise control or not.

Or you can send me your VIN and I can check the original equipment datasheet from Volvo central database.

how can they justify charging that much for small 1kb piece of info that say's yes you have cruise.

I'm tempted to get one too but the ones you can buy off the bay can't download the software (need to be connected to sweden for that THO there surely must be a way around it)
