Wanted: 440, 460 or 480 Auto

As title, I'm looking for a 440, 460 facelift or 480 Auto, ideally a low mileage, high spec example.

I have up to £1000 to spend if immaculate example with long MOT and tax, especially if it’s local to Reading in Berkshire (but will travel for right car at right price) as I need to buy a car this weekend, starting new job next week.

Tall order I know, but if you don’t ask you don’t get.

Would consider other condition, mileage, spec if price reflected it, but must be auto.

Yes saw that thread and got excited but although its in the for sale thread looks to me like he has just brought it, rather than for sale.

Saw the same add he must of, rang seller but was too late.

Sorry, really should of read the whole thread.

Don't know anything about CVT gearbox, is it any good?

I may be wrong, but I read it that he'd just bought it and was gauging interest in it, but if he didn't have any interest, he would keep it for himself.

Sorry if I got to the car before you, was in a similar position to yourself and the condition was too good to pass it by.

I gave it a light service on sunday and have done 240 miles this week at 36mpg without a stutter, it really drives well. I've bought the full service items today so it will get a clean and service tom'w - with the exception of the front nearside wing (scrape from elderly owner) there is a spotless car under the dust.

CVT - each to there own. I wouldn't but a 100k CVT, but this one has 23900 so it's in perfect condition.

On monday I'd have sold it in a flash - it has grown on me this week but its not really me.....goes off to look for 900 diesels.....

No need to apologise.

We had decided after last post that having 2 classic (or old bangers depending how you look at it) cars may not be such a good idea (we already have an 89 480 I'm restoring) so just spent last days looking locally at S40/V40s with a bit more to spend but not having much joy, though either really tatty or major issues.

Don't need it this weekend now though as we have come up with a way of both of us getting to work with one car for a while.
