Default 2004 V70 D5-engine service required

I’ve recently bought a 2004 V70 D5, it’s got quite high mileage-212k, but has been well looked after and drives well.
Sometimes if I rev the engine over about 2500-3000 rpm, more so when not fully warm I get a message come up that says engine service required and it goes into limp mode, if I turn it off then on again it clears.
Has anyone else had this happen on theirs?, it doesn’t tend to happen when the engine is fully warm and been running for a while just usually within the first 15 mins or so of driving.
I’m thinking possibly a turbo hose?.

Look down the back of the engine at the hose connected directly to the turbo. These go soft with age and collapse under acceleration and eventually split, usually along the underside.

Also worth checking the fuel filter is recent and change it if it looks old, assuming there’s no record of a change. These are often overlooked at service.

Same here. Check the fuel filter, but as reggit says, a soft turbo hose can cause a similar problem at higher mileages. Make sure you let the Forum know what fixed the problem. Good luck and hope it’s a cheap fix.

Is it a reasonable DIY job to replace the soft turbo hose down the back of the engine?

It’s not too hard, think I put mine up on ramps and did it from underneath. Long time ago, can’t fully remember.

The fiddly bit is getting the little heater thing in that hose to sit properly.

does it happen more first thing in the morning when driving? or when the engine is cold?

I had a similar issue, codes were pointing to the turbo actuator, but it tested ok with a vacuum gauge.

Ended up replacing the turbo with a working used one and hey presto the problem was fixed.

Defo worth checking codes before you run around experimenting.

Start the engine , take the oil filler cap off , let us know what it sounds like.
