Default Alarm going off.

Last night at 2 am the alarm on the xc strated going off. i got it to stop by unlocking the car but almost as soon as i locked it again it started up again. I tried opening and closing all the doors and the boot and bonnet. This seemed to work untill about 2:45 when it went off again. At this point i decied to just leave it unlocked.
Does any one have any ideas on this as normally i would suspect that the battery was losing its charge and would need replacing but the volvo seems more complex than that and the battery seems fine as far aas starting the car goes.
Oh it was colder than it has been last night if that makes any difference.
Thanks

You could try turning off the in-car movement detection.

you will need the codes read and alarm causes read . it is most likely a Mass Movment sensor , they have been updated several times over the years . There are two , one at the front and one at the rear . If disabling them by pressing the button before you leave the car cures it you will know what to expect ..

I have the same problem but only happens when it rains. Haven't got a solution yet however if you want to lock the car but not set the alarm just lock with the key.....well that works on mine.2003. Not sure about later models.

Turning off the button on the dash cured it for a while but now it goes off the second the doors are locked with the remote. I have taken to locking it with the key in the door for now. It has been suggested that it could be the battery in the alarm module as this was the cause in my parents Saab which was doing the same thing. Any thoughts?

HI Guys

I had the alarm service message for the first time today, after it having 3-4 soundings for no apparent reason.

I tried the disable sensor button and it still went off... is this likley to be the siren module too?

I have not yet pulled the codes.. will do in the morning.

Hi

It locks with the remote...and as there is a dash error stating service required, I assumed that the alarm would be disabled now....
