Hello chaps,
What do you think about this technique of transmission oil change?

This information i got from Volvo dealer:

"We drain the gearbox transmission oil and then remove the gearbox transmission pan / sump to gain access to replace the gearbox transmission filter, we then add new automatic transmission oil and test drive vehicle to confirm the vehicle is operating to specification.

We do not incorporate a flush with any additional fluids or resin"

Go into profiles in Sensus, select guest profile. Drive for a bit, this resets the tranny. Once done go back into your own profile.

Default v90 automatic gearbox oil change

Hi,

I have an 2017 reg v90 diesel with 60000 miles.

I have heard a lots of different information about the gearbox oil change.

I must change the oil or not?

The volvo garage told me don't because the oil is lifetime oil.

What should I do?

Anybody knows a good garage around St Helens or Warrington?

Sorry for my terrible English.

Thx

who ever told you that should be sacked. Those words come from his mouth not Volvo uk's
there is a service schedule !

if you use the car for taxi work, or regular towing or other arduous tasks change the oil every 36000 miles this is volvos optional service.

If you do want to keep the gearbox in pristine condition change it at 72000 miles . I would say 90% of volvos on the road never change it and over 100,000 miles they are still working fine and at that stage it is very advisable to change the oil.

Just as important is the operating software updates which the dealer does on every yearly service for free.

Yes, the technician told that.
He said the oil in the gearbox is lifetime oil, do not need change.
We /volvo garage/ must change if you have any problem with your gearbox.
Because there is not any drain on the gearbox for the oil change.
They don't have this machine

But there IS a drain plug, I wouldn't take a car there ! There is no such thing as lifetime oil either. Volvo life times tend to be 30 + years

So what is the consensus?

This is an SPA section so what are the recommendations for SPA gearboxes and what does Aisin gearbox manufacturer recommended in terms of oil changes?

The only clear answers here appear to be regarding older versions or even entirely different car makes!

Mine is in for a service on Wed. When I booked it in, I asked about GB servicing/fluid change and he (Volvo service reception) said there's no service for these gearboxes, they are sealed.

Maybe I need to ask another Volvo dealership.

I think Clan said start to think about it at 70k miles and really have it done before 100k miles.

I had mine done at about 130k miles as I thought it was good preventative maintenance. It then got done again when they replaced the engine, split the box from the driveshafts which caused the oil to leak out. So I paid for a box refurb and new oil 5k miles later......
