Remarkable Alf, you don't miss much!

My enthusiasm is cooling for this motor car, it took too long to establish a pretty simple background, so I'm coming to suspect there may be more secrets.

That rather confirms my suspicions that someone has re-badged the motor car in the past.

It is quite a distance away (320 mile round trip) away, so when I weigh it up perhaps it isn't really worth pursuing this one. Just going to see the motor car would take me a whole day and cost £75 worth of fuel. Maybe I'll take my time a bit, look for a less uncertain and closer project than this one.

One thing I did notice when I filled up today was that the price of gas has dropped quite a bit since the last time: 172p/litre today - I think it was 185p/litre a few weeks ago. 13p is quite a drop, but I didn't hear about it in any news reports - I suppose good news doesn't sell papers :-).

Filled Baby up in Ashbourne, £1.59.9 for E10. Today.

Still bloody dear though!

That was quite cheap.

Our memories are quite short here; I was just reading an article in today's paper regarding the price of fuel and noticed it was 117.24p/litre in August 2010 (diesel was 119.6p/litre). That is a 36% increase over 12 years; in the same period houses have gone up by 55%.

I suppose a headline like 'petrol pretty cheap compared with the price of your house' wouldn't sell many papers :-).

For various reasons I've been recording fuel costs for the "daily driver" for several years now so could probably give you an idea of the cost of unleaded and then diesel over the last 20 or so years. For example - and please do not gnash teeth or wail - in August 2001 the first fill-ups of my 240GLT cost £56.26 which got me 16.5 gallons (75.11 litres in new-fangled measurement). I put in enough at the expensive garage to work out the fuel consumption then brimmed it.

Excellent Loki,

You will know that our memories are very short on this matter. I recall just over 18 months ago (January 2021 if I remember correctly) there were a few weeks when E10 cost just under £1/litre at our local Morrisons. The price of crude oil had 'gone negative' (I never understood quire what that meant) - so I could fill the RB up for about £50.

A few things happened in the world (as they do), the price of pump gas nearly doubled (as it does) and people all have 20:20 hindsight, blaming someone else (the government or someone...) for not having an energy policy that would have protected them. People eh!

Not dear bud.

Grandad’s car didn’t sell! Surprise, surprise!

An honest description and decent , relevant photos, sans BS , might have been different.

Chumney got in touch to see if I’m still interested. I suppose I would be at the right price :-)

Gosh Bob! British people don’t realise that (and the papers don’t report it: ‘petrol isn’t so expensive here after all’ wouldn’t make a good headline). The RoI doesn’t have any refining capacity, I’m guessing it comes from here anyway, plus your government’s cut of course.

:-)
