'05 XC90 D5 "Major Engine Failure" ..
Hi all, got a well maintained 2005 XC90 163 with 112k on the clock. Wife was driving it on Friday and it just cut out at 40mph. She got a bit of a fright so can't really tell me what happened, but she says the dashboard lit up and the message said Major Engine Failure.
I can't actually find a list of possible messages anywhere, but sounds like something useful a Volvo would tell you ! Anyway, AA didn't even look at it, got recovered to a local garage in North Leeds late on Friday and on Saturday morning told me there was no way they can look at it so take it elsewhere, very annoying. Spins, doesn't try and fire, half a tank of fuel, not had any issues in 4 years of ownership. Cambelt is still there, no fluids pouring out, everything 'looks' fine. Only thing I spotted, and it makes no difference plugging it in, is a sensor was not connected, can anyone tell me what it is out of interest? Down the back of the engine, large pipe is from airbox, small one to side of head. Pic attached. If anyone can recommend a Volvo garage (non dealer) in Leeds that would be great, I can't find any online except one in Farsley that won't touch anything over 10years old .. Cheers |
