Going slightly o/t, I've always found it strange that Volvo, since being owned by Ford, have never adopted the heated windscreen (particularly with the Scandinavian heritage!)

Thinking about it - I can see why the Diesels may have this problem - the bonnet has about an inch thick of insulation strapped to it to reduce the noise so the engine heat would also have to get through that as well and abviously this is going to take longer - or do the Petrol versions have this too? I don't like going over 50/50 for antifreeze/screen wash and water as it's not good for the old paint, I tend to carry a bottle of water around in winter so if things do get murky at least I can stop and clear the screen. They started using that sugar by product ( forget it's name) up here now rather than salt and I did find last year that it was much cleaner and you didn't have to use the washer jets every five mins - when they worked!
