Default Rear shock mount sheared off!

Woah, I have a knock on the passenger side upper mount.

I pulled out the floor to find the shock mount has sheared off from the body.

Is it possible to weld a plate on for the shock mount to attach to?

Matt

Can you post a photo?

Usually (when they fail) the middle part of the shock mount separates from the rest - in which case you replace the mount in the usual method. Undo the shock nut, undo the 2 bolts. Obtain new mount and refitting is the reversal of removal.

Are you saying that the part of the car that the 2 bolts go into has come away? Or that one or both bolts have sheared?

Hi, no I can't post photo's at the moment. I don't know why because older photo's on my hard drive will load up but newer ones won't. Joys of Windows 7!!

Yes, I have seen broken mountings but this is different. One of the two captive nuts welded to the cars body has come loose taking part of the body with it. The mount is intact but not attached to the body.

I took it in last night and the garage can weld it and refit the mounting. So that is good. It is booked in for monday.
