Don't think this one has been mentioned, up to £3600 already, guess the reserve is circa £4500 as Buy It Now £4995.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/126330156...Bk9SR5S6grK2Yw

Looks nice, good history and no horrors in MOT history either... mmmm!!!!

Cheers

Folks take some convincing a 2 litre automatic is worth having at any price. Mine isn’t perfect but I don’t want to get out of it. Acquired taste I guess.🧐

Many thanks Andrew, as Baldrick would say, I have a cunning plan...

Only contemplating stage, but the eBay advert has 6 days to run, the deformed knob issue on the 940 has been bugging me ever since I realised it wasn't going to be a 2 minute swap over.

Run 940 for next month or so, that should get me past immediate lack of wheels crisis, MOT it in May to give 4 weeks before expiry to sort any issues.

Then, i could punt the 940 out with a full years ticket, leaving me with a rather much nicer silver 245.

Missus would flip her lid, but as she trashed the old Wentworth engine, she can't really complain...... can she???

Cheers

In Derbyshire, my 240 is not ideal, too many hills. When I go to East Anglia, it’s an ordinary car, performance wise, that’s why we take Baby on our three trips a year. It’s a delight.
A good 245, has to be a fairly good investment.👍

The gear stick on the 940issue, for me, is still , hacksaw and fabricate a knob mate.

Well I’m not a real speedster, more of a cruiser😀. What sort of revs does a 2.0 auto run at say 60 mph??

I could always play The Eagles, Life In The Fast Lane on the working tape deck 😀😀

Or maybe, Dan Hartman, I can dream about you (you being in the Fast Lane!)

The extra nominal 300cc makes a huge difference, i know which i'd go for.

Hi Dave,

Yes I think I’ve seen many posts where the benefits of the extra cubes have been mentioned.

Just seemed perhaps a nicer motor with good history, than the blue 940 I’m picking up tomorrow.😀😀

Cheers

About 2500 rpm @ 60 mph .

The extra cubes make a difference,no doubt, I’ve had a few.

It depends what you want it for, I suppose.🤔

They used to say " there's no replacement for displacement" but since the advent of turbo's this hasn't been quite as true.
I have a 2l 240 and the jokes about measuring acceleration in terms of ice ages were painfully true.
Solved the problem by adding the 13C turbo etc, etc from a turbo redblock. It's a really small turbo and does fit in the 240.
Oh, and I was pleasantly surprised at the small amount the Insurance increased by.
