Default Demand for diesel vehicles plummets 24%

From the BBC website:

Demand for diesel-fuelled cars continues to dive, the latest monthly figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show.

Registrations fell by 24.4% - not the worst fall recorded but still a dramatic drop.

Overall, the SMMT said the new car market was stable in July, with around 1.5 million new registrations. That's 163,898 cars joining British roads.

Demand for hybrids and plug-ins rose by 20%.

I think the demand would be far less if Manufacturers, and dealers were not offering such great incentives for diesel's atm.

I find it really deceitful, and contradictive for Manufactures to be pushing so hard on diesel's knowing full well things can change rapidly regarding possible new laws, and monetry charges for diesel's, even 2040 may well come down to 2030, and I know there are some who still believe in the dirty derv, and state how clean they are, but that is new cars, 10 years down the line when some are really polluting, and some always will find a way around MOT testing for me is not the way forward.

"DON'T PANIC Mr MANNERING" they will find another target when ours are all gone.
The only thing for some to be concerned about will be the knock on second hand part ex values.
But as fewer diesels become available we may have an ace up our sleeves you never know,
Especially if the scare tactics are doing the job instead of tax rises.

once upon a time petrols were worse and lpg was the only alternative-then petrol mpg leapfrogged, filters and others got better-unleaded came along and so on-reality is the number of vehicles on road- number of miles travelled and time spent at tick over and reving when engine performance is worst is result of everyone wanting cars in cities-we used to walk whatever the weather- now we complain how far we walk to the car-the whole thing is a human life problem-currently diesel is worst. my 145k miles xc60 is a euro4- but last mot below the euro6 levels.so which car is the one we ban from cities?
