Default XC60 T8 MY19 replacement Window Screen

Has anyone had to have their Screen replaced, a Heated Screen? Auto Glass is doing it, but they do not use Volvo Screens, but their own direct replacement, which they say is the same, anyone any experience of screen replacement?

Can't say I am too happy about a huge stone chop today that cracked across 50% of the screen car only 6 weeks old So much Gravel and Stones on the roads atm

Had my windscreen replaced twice by autoglass both times fitted with a Volvo windscreen. My car has only done 600 miles I'm sure they are made of sugar glass.

Thanks

hmm that is interesting, they told me they did not fit it with Volvo glass, although he did say they make some glass for car manufactures as well.

Is yours heated or heads up display?

HUD each time there has been no stock, and they have had to order the screen in.

I find the workmanship of Autoglass much better than the technicians at the official dealerships because Autoglass do it so much more often.

When Synter BMW replaced a windscreen for me years ago, they spilt glue all down the side of the body work. I was not impressed. I have since used Autoglass twice, both times they were quick and precise. Seemed to know what hey were doing. I never verified where they got the windscreen though.

Mine was replaced back in January by Autoglass. Slight delay in sourcing the heated windscreen (non HUD) but fitted ok it seems. Original Volvo screen with all the markings/trade marks etc.

Picked up a chip a week later....

They will do everything they can to persuade you to allow them to fit generic non branded glass. However you can insist on genuine Volvo glass - with the original Volvo stamps and part number. I've just had that "discussion" with them - they have a special team who will confirm with your insurers that they will pay for genuine.

My point has always been my car is under main dealer warranty and therefore needs to have a genuine screen [and some in the past have been on car scheme direct from the manufacturer so again need to go back 100% authentic. I'm sure some people will state a third party screen is made in the same factory/just as good/the same but why take a risk on a £40k plus car - when it comes to resale or hand back a non Volvo screen will stand out to a savvy buyer.

I've had my car 3 weeks, already 2 stone chips, my last 2 year old XC60 had plenty of them. Volvo use soft glass which I find difficult to proerly clean without some smearing in rain after dark. You might be better off with generic glass, it might just be more resilient.

Yes - go back to your insurers if no joy with autoglass, I’ve had 2 OEM screens approved over recent years by Aviva and fitted (very wel indeed) by autoglass. Was told by Aviva that they’ll pay for factory glass FOC on cars up to 3 years old

A colleague of mine has the HUD option and when his screen was replaced they said it had to be a genuine Volvo screen, as the HUD needs some special feature in the screen. So it seems if you've got that option you need to insist on a genuine screen.
