Default Volvo S40 T4 - Spares Repair / Immoboliser Problem

Sorry that this is my first post and im not really adding anything to the forum. I understand i can list ebay / gumtree e.t.c, but thought i would first come on a genuine Volvo forum where the car would be appreciated.

Not sure what to ask for but from research and looking through previous posts on here i do know they are a great car to own.

Vovlo S40 T4

Only selling as spares repair due to immoboliser problem.
Car turns on with key but wont turn over, I had linked out the starter motor to prove it turns over and it started and ran for around 2 minutes until fuel ran out of engine. It has about a quarter tank of fuel in the car, but as the immoboliser also cuts out the fuel pump no more petrol will get through until this problem is solved

I have two original keys and key fobs.
Will probably be a simple problem and anyone that knows more about these cars than me is sure to have a quick or easy solution.

No silly offers please, I understand this is a good car and will easily do 250,000 miles, quick reliable and becoming quite rare. Good low mileage engine and gearbox.

No Mot or Tax and has been stood for about a year now due to not being able to solve starting issue. Car will need to be towed or trailer used.
Need the money and space and it is far too good to scrap, also don’t have time to strip and sell as parts. Few bits of trim need replacing, all parts / bolts e.t.c included.

Ive personally replaced the following and have receipt for parts;
• Spark Plugs
• Brake Discs (all round)
• Brake Pads (all round)
• Air Filter
• Oil Filter
• Engine Oil
• Gearbox Oil (new washer plug)
Car hasn’t been used since due to starting issue so all parts are as brand new.

Full stainless steel exhaust fitted
All major service parts changed (including brakes)
Full leather interior in good condition (heated seats)
Low mileage for age 98,000
4 good tyres with plenty of tread and genuine Volvo alloy wheels.

Body work is in good condition as can be seen from pics, apart from slight dent in rear quarter on one side and small amount of rust starting to appear on one arch.

Trip computer / Alarm / Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) / Driver Airbag / Electronic Stability Program (ESP) / Immobiliser / Passenger Airbag / Rear seat belts / Safety Belt Pretensioners / Rear Spoiler / Air Conditioning / Cruise Control / Leather Seats / Heated Seats / Power-assisted Steering (PAS) / Power Locks / Power Windows / AM/FM Stereo / Cassette Player / CD Player / Colour Coded Bumpers / Front Fog Lamps / Spoiler

4 Cylinder / 16 Valve / Turbo Injection / 200bhp / Top Speed – 146mph

Either pm me or offer on here, i can then give further contact information / details as neccessary.

Car is in south Manchester.

Kind Regards

Michael

Does anyone have an idea of what sort of money I might be expecting if I did put it on eBay. Say with a 7 day listing?
It's not my favourite idea but may get more attention / interest that way. Would just prefer it to go to a genuine Volvo enthusiast that will get it back on the road and for it to live for many years to come.

Problems with immobiliser is that it could be either:
an earth problem which is a cheap fix,
or faultu immobiliser unit which would cost a lot more to repair or

Both as you can see from our recent experience with Siamblue http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...ht=immobiliser

It could sell for £200, or it could sell for £500 or more. You never know

You are right. could be the loom, bad earth on the ECU, bad earth to and from the starter motor. We spent quite a few hours with Siamblue trying to sort out his car.
