Running Vadis on Windows 10?
I've not long upgraded to Windows 10, but only just tried to run Vadis (previously on Windows 7 - Vadis ran without any trouble).
Although it opens up fine, logs in and I can search as usual all of the 'articles' don't seem to be available any longer. I get a message "can't fine ID with value: VCC - 128857. Please contact your VADIS administrator if you need any help" (the number changes depending what I try to view). Has anyone else had similar trouble - is it Windows 10, or something else? |

Have you tried running it in compatibility mode - also useful to run as an adminstrator

Hi - thanks for the quick response. I tried both those options (one at a time, and together) but no luck - still the same error message. I tested compatibility back to XP and Windows 7.

last possibility is to set up a Windows 7 or XP virtual machine on Win 10 (you will need Win 10 Pro to do this though) as this creates an instance that is completely transparent to the application which will think it is inside whatever virtual machine you stuff it into.
Otherwise you will need to create a Win 7 partition and make a choice at boot of whether to run Win 10 or Vadis

Ah, the joys of 'upgrading'... As I an not confident about real machines never mind virtual ones I had to get a cheap second hand dell with xp.

Vadis will not run properly as you have IE9 onwards
If you are Win 10 you may also need compatibilty mode as i do in WIN7 64bit Install IE8 and it will run OK...also with Google Chrome I find Vadis the best as it is up to 2005 and gives ALL information not like Vida which misses a lot out of the early years full information. Vida will not run on WIN7 64bit either...Lol

Thanks for that, I wasn't aware it was related to the browser. I currently only have IE11 and the new MS Edge (which is very good, but doesn't seem to help run Vadis!). I'll do a bit more playing.

Vida 2014B runs perfectly on 1E9 & IE10 with Win 7 Pro, not sure about IE11 or Windows 10. Older versions of Vida certainly only ran on IE8 but maybe Volvo are starting to realize XP and IE8 are no longer supported.

So if you want 64bit which in general runs a lot better than 32bit the only option is as you say WIN7 PRO. The only thing is WIN7 PRO is so large it takes ages to start unlike WIN7 64bit which i went back to. If you are not going to take advantage of what PRO offers then why pay more in money and time for it ? After all this digital data is all pirated for the home user and what is available is 32bit!
