Default No In-Car Heating

I own a 1989 740 estate (2.3 carb engine). For some reason the in-car heater is only blowing cool air through the vents. In the past the heater has worked fine warming the interior of the car in no time at all. The temperature gauge shows normal, and a new thermostat has been fitted.
I have noticed that the water in the expansion tank is still cool, even after a long journey, but the hoses too and from the radiator are hot.
A friend suggested that i may have an air-lock or a blockage in the cooling system.
I am not the best with cars, so can anyone give me some advice on how i can solve this problem?

Thanks

John

Yep!!

Re drain the system and start again. This time however jack the front of the car up as high as you can and refill. What your doing here is forcing the coolant into the heater matrix (make sure the heaters are set to hot when refilling), through the block and finally into the rad. This eliminates air locks. If you've fitted new anti freeze then catch it in a pail or basin and reuse, don't worry it will be okay to do this.

At the end of it all, you should be able to remove the rad cap with the engine hot and the coolant in the tank steady, no bubbling, plouting or overspill, totally steady.

Hope this Helps.
