RE: Car Valuation?
A shock is the only way to describe it!! I don't think you'll need a box of tissues mate.....more like 2 yrs of counselling!!
To give you an idea, my car is a: V40T4 Sport Lux Manual ('01 model, Phase II), 18000 miles Electric Glass Sunroof Winter Pack Estate Pack Family Pack Lowered Sports Chassis HU-1205 Navigation Electric Driver and Passenger Seats Volvo OEM Reversing Sensor Volvo OEM 10-disc changer Volvo OEM Integrated Nokia Handsfree Kit Factory Xenon Headlamps Bought it brand new and 6 months back, it was valued at.......wait for it.........£7k!!!!!! That was actually the best offer I had; needless to say I'll be holding on to it for a bit longer! Hope you have better luck than I did Mike! |

RE: Car Valuation?
Hi Mike
You could try the automated valuation service here: http://www.parkers.co.uk/ It may give you a rough idea. Please let us know how much you were offered - I know that sometimes it depends on which car you're trading it in against and the profit margin they have available with it. Janet |

RE: Car Valuation?
Unfortunately, the Parkers guide is only indicative of used values if you're planning on selling the car privately. Dealers always refer to their 'little black book' version of the Glass' Guide which is far lower than any other valuation that I know of. They usually aim for a profit of at least £2-3k on cars under £10k. Dealers typically have a margin of 15% on new cars (half that for the R range).

RE: Car Valuation?
Hi Mike,
Why not have a look in the autotrader magazine or online at http://www.autotrader.co.uk/ You won't get a valuation but will be able to see what similar models are fetching. Best of luck. Vaughan |

RE: Car Valuation?
I would try www.gtccar.co.uk as they are a large second hand London dealership that does just about any kind of car. The lower the mileage the better the price it seems. I've only bought a car from them so I don't know what price they'll give you for your car

RE: Car Valuation?
Thanks for the input on this one.
The car trades in 2 days and I'll be leaving the Volvo brigade and moving to Ford. Best offer from a Volvo dealer - £4000 max depending on what I was going to spend. Best from a Ford Dealer - £6500 - with no strings on value of purchase. On that basis I have opted for a year old Ford Mondeo Ghia X Estate TDCi with Geartronic and every conceivable gadget. Not as rapid as the T4 but better equipped and considerably cheaper to run. I may be back in a few years but for now ... farewell and best wishes to you all. Mike |
