bulb replacement tail lights (in hatch door) V40 Est 2.0T se 1999
Can anyone tell me how you are supposed to change the tail light bulbs in the tailgate. When you open the little carpeted doors and unclip the bulb holder you have no room to pull the bulbholder out to where you can get at the bulbs.I changed the N/S one a few weeks ago which took me ages to get out and had to unclip the bulb holder from the loom which it says not to do in the manual. Now the O/S one has gone and I gave up today as its just too fiddly and as my car is due for its 90k service next week I decided to let the garage do it , I considered taking the whole trim off but it seems like a lot of work.Is there a knack to this as it seems the whole unit is too big to navigate out of the hole provided.I had a similar problem when changing a headlight bulb as there is just no room in these otherwise `delightful` cars .PLEASE HELP.

the holder will come out, with the loom attached but as you said it is fiddly. you just need to wiggle and turn the holder and it will come out eventually. as for the headlight, make sure you change both, not just the blown one. it does get easier with practice, honest... scott |
