On the volvo system it's a separate part ...
I want to do something like this... http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=127880 though a few people on swedespeed have installed monitors (see post few above this one ) and then connected a garmin GVN53 to provide the black box sat nav. I have fitted a Garmin 1490T into the Volvo Sat nav case, It raises up out of the dash with a press of a button and then turns Garmin on and lowers with a press of the same button and turns off the garmin. If anyone is interested I will write up a full report of how I did it.

Forgot to say that the Sat nav was perchased off ebay for £40 and the Garman was £115, 2xlimit switchs, Double pole latched relay, 2xfuse holders and a little wire £20 was the total cost.
