Default When is an ABS fault not an ABS fault?

Hi Folks,

'98 V70 tdi auto

Got any pointers on this one....

My dash ABS light is most of the time.
It's often off at start, but comes on at first brake press.
No fault codes are showing when checked.
The brakes work fine,as normal.
If I'm braking over rougher ground at any speed the ABS kicks in. Partic when turning.

Any ideas where to start on this one?

The car had 2 new front reluctor rings about a year ago and they're in good condition.

ABS ecu was 'repaired' and checked just before I got the car.

Thanks,

Rich

What car/year have you got?

How are you checking the codes? I've never known the ABS light to show and there not be a code....

Sorry, wasn't paying attention.

It's a 1998 V70 tdi auto.

Am checking codes with a a version of vol-fcr, but did have some problems with the laptop at the time. So maybe there's a comms error. You've got me thinking, maybe I should try again.

Thanks,
Rich
