Default 2010 XC70 2.4 D5 AWD manual

Hello,

I would like to have your feed-back on a sale ad for a XC70 that I saw on the local market here in Luxembourg.
It's a XC70 2.4 D5 AWD manual which has 218K miles. I do not know how relevant the price is for UK market but the seller is asking for 6300 pounds (converted from EUR).

The car looks Ok (from the pictures) except for some scratches on the passenger door (still to see them).

I'm interested in the car because it's a model I always dreamed to own and drive. It will not be the main car of the family but I plan to use it on longer journeys as well from time to time so reliability is important.

I am mostly worried about the high mileage and the potential "deadly" issues these might induce. What could go wrong for this engine/model at this age and usage?

Finally, I plan to go and test drive the car. What should I ask, look for and test?

In case you are interested here is the ad (but please don't steal it ): https://www.luxauto.lu/fr/occasion/v...5-215-awd.html

Thanks!

Your asking in slightly the wrong part of the forum I think. You need to look at the correct year sub forum.

Oups, indeed. Sorry for this.

Not sure if one of the moderators could move my thread.
I also cannot find a way to delete this thread.
I would wait for a possible solution for these (move, delete) before submitting my question again in the right place.

The car looks tired. The front seats show substantial wear. The knob on the gear lever should have been replaced.

Does it have full service history?

I don't know what the market in Luxembourg us like, but in the UK I think that you would find a nicer car for your money. Perhaps a slightly older car but with fewer km and better looked after.

Please check the following two cars on sale near me.

These two cars are regarded as having prices that are above average but they are both much nicer than your example.

Thank you for all your input.

In the end I gave up on going to see the car.

It's not a car that I really need, it's more a want. And indeed is not such a good offer as it seemed like at first because it could easily turn into a money pit.
So as this buy is not very urgent I will keep watching the local market until I find a better opportunity.

Service history was one big issue. It has it but it has not been done by Volvo (because "too expensive" according to owner). Also will need a cam belt change soon.

Market is indeed very small here, but we have the advantage of being close to Germany. I'm not in a hurry to buy this car, so I'll just sit and wait for a nicer one indeed. The ones you showed look very nice and the mileage is much better!

The D5 engine is unburstable but it does need regular maintenance especially both the auxiliary belt at every 54K miles and the timing belt at every 108 miles. Otherwise it's down to regular maintenance and a modicum of luck.
