Key Fob Shell

I have just recently ordered a new shell from Aliexpress so non genuine OME part but the saving of £150 on original OME part is quite a significant one and the item received is simply excellent quality I can’t upload photos on here to show you but here is the link

I ordered it last Sunday (20th May) and it arrived yesterday seriously well worth the £ especially if your original shell is looking a bit tatty or you just want a change but like me think the Volvo price for the original is just extortion on a whole new level.

Looks the Bee's knees, thanks for posting the link, I dont need one yet as I only use the waterproof fob but there will be lots on the forum who will. I will bookmark the webpage for future.

I think I won't need one, the Momentum trim shell is quite durable.

Why Volvo choose metal buttons but then make the shell out of chrome plated plastic is beyond me, esp when the price of a replacement shell with leather is so high, maybe its unicorn leather?

No reason why it can't all be metal. The wooden one looks ok, is it any bulkier?

One buyer on Amazon reported potential long term problem:

The key shell is really nice, but it doesn't hold up long term. I've not had mine quite 2 months yet and the wood cracked at one of the corners. The corners are where the screws secure the two halves together, so now only 3 of the 4 corners are being held together. Maybe I just got a defective one?

It’s no bulkier than my original R design in fact less so as this one is completely flat not raised by the leather like the OEM this one is super smooth and fits perfectly no joining gap all the way round,I just wanted to let people know that should they wish to order one it’s actually worth the £45 delivered.

Unrelated, but quite interesting, particularly for us who use the sport key all of the time.. it even has a keychain hole..

I was about to post the same thing.

I like the idea of having an emergency key for the key tag just in case the keyless system fails (as has happened to me on a couple of occasions with the Merc).

Yup! I was going to use one of the existing keys (from inside the keyfob..) and just drill a hole in it - but for the price- this seems like a better proposal
