Default V90 ride quality on 20” wheels

Hi. I’m thinking of buying a V90’s Inscription Pro but I’m concerned the 20”wheels with 235/35 tyres is going to be a problem in terms of ride quality and comfort. Anyone able to comment on my concern?

I'd also be very interested in as well.

I'm in the process of ordering a T8 Hybrid, one of the options I'm tempted with is the 20" Alloys with Active 4C Suspension, but I've been told the Active Suspension is not worth the extra money.

Any thoughts?

I decided on the 17” wheels for comfort.
Even with these, this winter has been particularly bad, with all the potholes, etc.

From experience, I think if you were to buy a Merc or Beamer with massive 20 inch wheels, then expect very firm ride especially for the rear passengers. They are gonna complain all day long...with the modern Volvos, bigger wheels have less negative impact on comfort...

Get the dealer to find you a similar car to test drive if unsure...it might take them a few weeks to get the demo car

I test drove with air suspension, but eventually bought one without. Changing the ride with the touch of a button to make it firm or softer is a nice feature. It also looks much nicer parked, as it sits lower. You can also dip the back down to help with loading. If those things are important to you, then get it, but I wouldn't get it for a far superior ride personally, because it didn't feel a whole lot different to me.

Compared to my old school R-Design on 19", the T8 on 20" is much much softer, even on normal springs. All depends what you are used to probably, but it is not a hard ride if you were worried about that.

As said above, get a test drive though, as you could be different.

Ive got 20" on mine with standard suspension, went from 18's and noticed no difference whatsoever.

I have a S90 Rdesign Pro on 20inch wheels and extremely happy with the ride quality even go as far as to say it’s perfect and smooth

I agree with the above , the size of wheel doesn't seem to make any difference , You need to take a look underneath if you can , the suspension is beautiful , big alloy castings , sophisticated front end and rear transverse "plastic" spring make for a very light unsprung weight , so therefore able to go up and down very fast without affecting the car very much at all . The older models had cast iron or steel suspension arms which are heavy and do not like changing direction quickly .

You’re probably bang on there, Mercedes and BMW were always super sensitive to less sidewall, whereas the later Alfa Romeos with alloy double wishbones made the 19 feel like the 15.
