Default First visit! Interior question.....

Greetings!! I'm a forever BMW e24 enthusiast. Have an 84 M635Csi grey market car that I spend way too much money on.

It's in the shop. Spends a lot of time there, it seems. This time it will be there for about 6 weeks.

I started looking for a cheap temporary car to get me through. Now, I've always been partial to old 1800 and 120 Volvos. I've seen a few around over the years. I stumbled on a $400 1966 122s for sale in Denver. I thought - "now that's a fun option." Just have to talk the wife into another car because I told her I'd get something cheap but sell it when the BMW was done. I don't imagin I'd sell this if I got it.

I drove it, it's solid and safe. Has lot's of power. Outside is rough. Inside is very very nice.

Here's my question (first of many)

I've looked all over for pictures of 122s with leather interior. Can't find any. This one has it and it looks original. Very very nice. Seller doesn't know if it's been redone. Was leather an option?

Mark.
(I'll be back many many times)

I don't believe that leather was ever an original factory option, although it may have been a dealer option. It is most likely that they were re-done at some point. Have you checked that they are the original 122 seats and not swapped from another vehicle.

I'm more interested to see if you keep the Amazon and sell the Beemer!

Are you sure you are looking at leather. The quality of amazon seats when they are in good order can look like leather. As far as I am aware leather was never an option.

Default perhaps they are just very good vinyl?

Hi!!

OK, first - the Bimmer stays!!! Way too far into that one to get rid of it!! Now - I'm not sure how to tell if the seats are original. They sure do look original. They are softer than the leather in the '84 M6. Maybe, as you say, they were just high quality vinyl that have stood up very well and were quite soft to begin with.

They do not, however, have the mesh looking insert down the middle like the pictures I've seen. They are solid vinal all the way.

I just need to talk the wife into the car and post pictures!!
