Default Digital TV and DVD through SATNAV Screen

Does anyone viewing the forums know of a way to connect the digital TV and DVD output through the SATNAV screen in the XC90?

I have just ordered a new XC90 Exec, and would like to be able to have the signal through to the front for viewing by the front seat passenger and the driver when parked up at a ferry port or stuck in traffic/having a coffee break in Europe.

Is it straightforward to have someone with expertise connect the signal and allow it to be switched easily enough, or would it be a nightmare to sort out?

Many thanks !

Hi, Thanks for your reply, but if there is no AV input how does the rear parking camera connect to it?

So is there a way of interfacing to the car's fibre optic(?) data system to pass a video signal to the front screen from the DVD system, perhaps using the same module used for the rear view camera?

I guess it must be possible, has anyone done this or know the route to take to get it to work?

Or they might be a possibility to interface with the RTI that holds the satnav DVD ?

If you were to "insert" a module into the fibre optic network then the whole network would shut down resulting in the audio, sat nav, phone etc not working. This is due to network not recognising the module and shutting the network down (a built in security feature of the optic network). I am not aware of any module that will do this and Volvo do not have one available.

Im sure if you were to start digging into the electronics of the various modules there "may" be some way of getting a video stream out on the network (rather you than me)!

I am wondering if I could use the module that must come with the rear parking camera, but instead of feeding into that module the parking camera input feed it the signal from the integrated DVD player.

Anyone know if this would be straightforward?

As I don't have the car yet I have no idea how easy it would be to connect to the DVD video output.

Are there any ICE experts out there who could offer a solution?

ITServe, there is a thread somewhere on this forum within the past year that discusses this subject - I did a quick search but haven't found it, you may have better luck.

I also believe that IMOV has an interface that can be spliced in to the system somehow that allows what you want - I did turn up http://volvo.kalb.org/ which may be of use.

Keep us all informed if you do choose to pursue this project

Send a PM to Elliott as he can provide a DVD input to the RTI screen - he sent me prices for this when I enquired about RSE installation.
