They're not bad if you think of them as a 300bhp 1800kg car....

the v60 d5 twin engine should hopefully average about 50mpg.

Enjoy the unrivalled luxury of uncompromised driving. At the press of a button you can switch between two sources of power – either one at a time or together. Giving you access to ample power when you need it, the front wheels are powered by our five-cylinder 2.4-litre twin-turbo diesel producing 220 hp and a maximum torque of 440 Nm. Fitted to the rear axle, a 68 hp/200 Nm electric motor enables smooth driving with zero tailpipe emissions for a distance of up to 50 km (Pure mode). The compact and water-cooled 11.2 kWh lithium-ion battery is conveniently recharged via a regular 230 V power socket. It is also recharged by energy recovery during engine braking. And combined, these two power sources work together to optimise your range and fuel-efficiency (Hybrid mode). Or, if you prefer, they turn your D6 AWD into a true high-performance car, giving you access to a full 288 hp and a superior torque of 640 Nm (Power mode). And to require optimum road grip, just press the AWD button to prioritise traction on all four wheels. The D6 AWD is mated to a six-speed Geartronic™ automatic transmission with sport mode.

Hi,

Just ordered my D60 twin engine (D5).Looked at a Phev but as a driving experience goes its not for me.We run a 54 plate XC 90 and love it to bits thus my loyalty and love of the D5 engine.Gone for the dark metallic blue with cream leather, hoping for an early Sept delivery.
Boston Boy.

Placed my order on the 8th of July, also hoping for Early/Mid Sept. Mine will be Ice White with Black interior. and a whole bunch of added toys. Sad I couldn't get gear shift paddles ... I love pressing buttons.

Was a very hushed release this. I'd aspired to the D6 PHEV for quite a while, and when I got wind of the D5 at £14k less it was a done deal for me.

In light of the recent Ecotricity announcement that they were going to start charging for charging I really wanted a Diesel Hybrid and Volvo deliver the goods

For some markets, Volvo are actually releasing two versions:

D5 Twin Engine (163 + 70 bhp - 5 cyl)
D6 Twin Engine (220 + 70 bhp - 5 cyl)

Both come fitted as standard with the 6-speed auto and are available with Polestar tuning

Pretty sure that is the new V60 Hybrid, the old one was 220 bhp plus the electric, both D5's though.
