Distance on electric
Just joined as have bought a 2022 XC60 T6 Recharge
This might be a daft question but I am on a learning curve with this car. The spec for this seems to state up to 49 miles on electric but when mine is fully charged it gives just 35 miles. Is this right? |

Once things warm up you should get between 40-46 miles but you will never actually achieve the specified 49 miles, not in an XC anyway. They must have completed the book testing in a vacuum or somewhere that always had a really strong tailwind or on a 50 mile downhill run.

Most people new to PHEV & EV don't as its not something you even have to contemplate with ICE vehicles but its really one of the biggest factors in electric range.

Yup, my 2023 xc90 was getting 28-29 over winter, it’s now up to 32 and should improve by another 2-3miles as the weather warms up.

I don’t know what the actual electric mileage of my 23MY v60 T6 is as I have never run pure mode continuously for more than a few miles. But the fully charged range stated in th dash has always been circa 42 with a best last summer of 52. The phone app claims 17.2kwh/100 miles, but I could not say if that’s good, bad, or indifferent.
Cheers Bob

If you have everything switched off you might get close to 49 on a warm summers day with the battery charged at the hottest part of the day, but as soon as you switch on anything radio, heater, lights, air-con etc you are draining the battery and reducing your range

All other ancillaries (radio, lights, infotainment etc) are run from the 12v system which is charged from the 400v hybrid batteries if needed via an inverter but their use has very little noticable affect on range. To get the best possible range, switch off A/C and cabin heating (in the menu's, there is a tick box labelled Auxiliary/additional heater or similar) and dont go above 50mph on electric.

While stretching your EV's range is cool, going full eco-warrior might not be everyone's vibe, especially if you've bought a £50k car. It's like buying £3000 gaming PC and only using for spreadsheets on a small monitor. Or, buying a Lambo and only driving it for groceries to the town because fuel so is expensive these days. 😂
