Default XC60 Inscription Rear Speakers

A strange scenario with the rear door speakers which has unwittingly contributed massively to my early impression of the standard sound system. At normal volumes little or nothing is audible from the rear door speakers, road and tyre noise completely drown them out. Not until the fader is wound 80-100% to rear output do they contribute noticeably and need half of full volume which I never normally resort to.
Quality of sound with rear bias increased is ok so not blown speakers my dad 1st owned it as a retiree zero chance he’s nailed the tunes!
I’m left wondering what it can be to cause such a wild mismatch of outputs… the imaging is so out of whack it can’t be intentional by Vovlo.
Searched here and Swedespeed with minimal relevance, rear weakness on other packages was raised with little resolution

I've noticed the same the front 6 speakers produce a reasonable sound (for a standard system) with a relatively deep bass, however, the rear which I assume has the same sub in the lower part of the door and either a coaxial or tweeter in the top doesn't produce the same quality.

Perhaps the issue is it's missing a dedicated mid range in the rear there are 10 speakers 6 in the front and 4 in the rear.

I think if you were considering an upgrade you'd have been better speccing the upgraded system from the factory as sourcing amps, speakers and making it all work looks like more trouble than it's worth. Although I have considered it.

you are not sat in the right place really with one speaker in your ear and the opposite in the rear corer much further away, everything is set up for the driver and front passenger seat. When they had dolby pro-logic you had only certain bass frequencies and presence sounds from the rear. I have never heard any strong sounds from the rear in a volvo , maybe its all the thick padding around the interior.
