Default T5R upgrade aut. tansmission.

Hello

Have just read an article regarding. upgrade of automatic gearboxes.

I have a Volvo 850 T5R with automatic transmission - gearbox must soon get an refurbish and since I also have a tuned engine 380-400 BHP, which I also put in the car, I suspect that the automatic gearbox must undergo some improvemt, as the original automatic transmission "only "withstand amax. 340 BHP.

Can someboddy help me?

Good day & weekend.

The main problem for the gearbox is the Torque...The torque converter will quit. For such high power it is actualy indicated to convert the car to manual.

Defintley manual conversion which wont be too bad if your taking the engine and gearbox out anyway, maybe 850R gearbox with viscous lsd.

So it's possible - anyone who has tried it on a Volvo? , Does anyone know where the equipment is available?

Good day and weekend when it becomes the time.

If you upgrade the torque converter, that just leaves the bushes, bearings, clutches, steel packs, fluid cooling system and oil pump left to upgrade.

In short, I wouldn't bother with the autotragic unless you are ready to spend some big money, get a manual instead!
