Should be like this on the back with standard springs and b4 shocks.

Hi Baggy798,

Just want to check you are referring to my grey 940?? as that was one of my immediate thoughts on letting it off the jacks when I done the job back on the 2nd Nov.

Griston64 sent some pictures of his lowered 940, and it looked pretty much like mine did, hence triggering thoughts of incorrect springs

Dave's point that standard springs should be quite a bit shorter than those for Nivos is very interesting, as when I was doing the job at my brother in laws workshop, I bunged the old springs in the Kilen boxes. Also when I took the first old spring out I can recall comparing them, and they were pretty much identical to each other.... Obviously a good chance they were wrong springs on before, as they were in very good condition for a 27 year old car.

As mentioned in one of the posts from that day, I did dig the Kilen box out of the recycling, to check part numbers, and they were marked as 66090 with Brookhouse code B30.6609. Plugged the Kilen part number into Google today and all seems to come up with just standard springs for Volvo 940.

BINGO!!!

Just dug out invoice from Brookhouse and cross checked to their website, their code B30. 9909 is.... standard springs for SALOON ..... Arghhh

Explains the low ride height, but I am sure I ordered estate springs, first signs of madness or a tech numpty.... Oh well will give me a chance to renew the spring top stud, and nut.

Anyone know what the stud specs need to be, i.e - thread and length???

What is they say, you learn from your mistakes..... I think I feel like Kiloran yesterday, he nailed it on one of his posts, "what if I bollox this up!!"

Not looking forward now to my in tank pump change...........

Many thanks for everyone's input on this thread, and apologies to one and all for the **** up.

Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve

Part number stud is 1273592
Part number nut is 969322

I got mine from FRF with all the bolts for when I did rear shocks and springs

Spring cap is NLA which is a pity as they also get a bit crusty

I cleaned mine up pretty well with wire brush attachment on my angle grinder

Cheers Mark,

Thanks so much for the stud and nut details, do you think stainless be worth considering, in view of the position they are??

I was quite amazed when I changed the springs, as top mounts were in good nick, bit of a wash and all done, lowers also good, but obviously had more grit etc in the coil recess.

Cheers

Possibly, but a bit of a spray up there with WD etc will keep it ok. The thread into the body was ok,it's just the nut that welds to the thread which means it comes out as one piece
