Default Annoying Squeak!!

I have ready previous in the forums about annoying squeaking sound coming from rear offside (appears to be internal)
It seems to be a common problem with the V70 and suggestions range from suspension to rear seat catch.
I have tried painstakingly to find out the cause without success. I cannot even drown it out with the stereo!!
It is not constant, but does seem to be at its worse when carrying passengers (front or rear), also when passing over mini roundabouts or speed ramps.

I have tried spray white grease on the obvious fittings, but it sooon returns.
The mot is due this month and gives an ideal opportunity for locating the origin when getting checked over. (Garage owner is a relative so I won’t be held to ransom!)
I really would appreciate any suggestions on how to deal with this?
I love the car, but the sound has me demented at times!!
Regards
Paul

Try to reproduce the squeek sound when the vehicle is stopped and standing still.

If a suspension squeek, normally rocking the car in various directions (up/down, sideways, diagonally), possibly with load in the car (such as people in back seat or in the boot), will normally help to reproduce the squeek.

Then continue to do that with the vehicle on a hoist and look at the suspension.
Check and loosen slightly the tension on various suspension bushings to try and find a noisy bushing.

Of course, to do the above you need a hoist and often at least 3 people: one for weight, one to rock the car, one to work under the car.

The solution may be extremely simple such as a spot of grease in the right place, or may require new suspension busings, new shocks, or other components.

Try wrapping some Teflon tape around the catch for the tailgate or lathering it with silicon grease. If no change my understanding is that the front bushing on the sway arms are also a problem area. I have not encountered this myself. What I HAVE encountered though is squeaking on all four struts anytime outside temp falls below 4degC. Squeaks for the first 10min presumably until top mounts warm up and then quiet for rest of trip. Really annoying!!

When my rear trailing arm front bushes failed it caused an annoying squeaking, but only in the dry. Does your noice occur when driving on wet roads too ?

Rear trailing arm front bushes are the prime suspect . They squeak worse when dry and carrying passengers. Unless the mot tester is clued up on Volvos theory can easily miss it as its covered by a plastic shells. Ford Mondeo bushes fit and are lot cheaper but genuine Volvo ones now come with a seal to help stop them failing so soon. The seat fasters and tail gate can squeak but nothing like the bushes. Any good garage can fix them or you can do them yourself but hire or buy a tool / puller. I had my local garage fit mine and charged me 2 hrs labour.

I have an 'internal' sounding squeak on my S80, it's one of the seats I'm sure, either the drivers or one of the rear as I can reproduce it by jumping about in the seats

Hi,MY 2007 S80 is also squeaking, too. It seems to be passenger rear, but it comes and goes. Very recently it has started to squeak when i hit rough road/small pot holes.

Many V70/XC70 squeak from the front suspension when they get hot enough. Mine does, but only on warm summer days after driving in low speed, or towing a trailer.
