u/s is a military term and means unserviceable
I have replaced lots of these units and in my experience if your getting the alarm system service required message then its too late and the battery has already leaked onto the circuit board and wreaked it. If you have an 8+ year old car then it is a good plan to cut open the unit and replace the battery before it goes bad. You don't need to grind off that doomed rivet just grab it with a small pair of locking pliers with nice sharp teeth. cheers Ben |

Changing battery does not clear service light, removing fuse 8 kills the alarm but not the sensor so still goes into alarm state but without alarm sounding or indicators flashing ( which on mine drained the battery).
