Here are some performance pics from the Ultimate Street Car Challenge Event..

This is a picture while lining up for the Wilwood Speed Brake Challenge

Here is a picture from my Clutchless Autocross run.

Pics while removing the transmission to replace the blown clutch hose.

And here is a pic of Aaron from Gas Monkey Garage and I stagging for the track and him chasing me down in his 63 Falcon.

Here are pics of the final weigh in, and I think the weights are right on the money, and that is with about an empty fuel tank. It is the very opposite of what most of the people would have thought would happen with a V8 Conversion, so I think this should answer those critics..

Looks like you had a lot of fun, well done. I don't remember anyone criticising the weight of an aluminium V8 swap on this forum, but you should probably catch some stick for running adjustable height springs and not sorting out the corner weights for an autocross event So what's next?

The curb weight for a standard Amazon is 2400lb and that's with a full tank of fuel so unless the stated curb weight is wrong you've added 570lb (260kg) plus about another 130lb for fuel so that's 700lb (318kg). Maybe the stated curb weight is wrong as that's quite a bit of added weight.

Mr Khe Sanh, I don't think so, the rear and front axle conversion, the gearbox, the rbakes, rims, wheels, the sound dampening, the thick sheet metall in engine bay, it's easy to count 318kg.
1350kg is not too bad. regards, Kay

I will have all the Autocross Settings in place before the Las Vegas event, but as I stated a few times before, I was actually going to these events on a daily driver friendly setting for a reason. I wanted a base line of capability by driving comfortably to and from the events, and then see what the car can do with those settings.

I am done with events at this time, and I will daily drive and locally autocross the car the car until the SEMA and the Optima Battery Challenge, that way I get plenty of seat time and experience.. Keep in mind that I went to these events with no experience in any of the events, so I will get some track training to get rid of my bad habits, and also work on getting the car adjusted and sorted out setup wise. This all takes seat time and experience to get thing dialed in to the best performance, and that is really with about any car that you get whether it be old or new, so I think you all will be surprised with the outcome.

On the Wilwood Speed Brake Challenge for instance, I was going against a race setup Nissan GTR, and even with my lack of experience, we were steadily within .2 seconds whether he was better or I was better.. His car had All Wheel Drive, Traction Control, ABS Brakes, and running almost 1000 horsepower, and this was in about 20 runs, so I was very surprised how close we were considering? He had experience in these events, because he had attended the finals before, so I wonder what Volvo X would have done with a more experienced driver?

That is very very true, but before the Hush Mat, Carpet/insulation, and a couple of other comforts things I wanted to add, the car Weighed in at under 2500 pounds as you can see below. Now if I left the AC off, and left the car as basic as the original car was, then I wouldn't have added much of anything over all.. These figures below is with everything and simulated fuel, and I as only missing the back seat and extra comfort items that I felt was mandatory for a daily driver..

Keep in mind also, that there is a benefit in the additional weight when it comes to the new horsepower being planted on the ground, and it isn't like I was asking the B18/B20 to perform with the additional weight. If you ask me, I would gladly trade the additional weight for all the conveniences that I have gained, because this car is now as comfortable as any new car you would go buy..

I am running about a 22 gallon fuel tank over the rear axle for a reason, and that is because I plan on trying to do a cross country time trial race in the near future, and wanted to make sure that I had extended fuel range.. This car is getting about 26mpg highway at the 600+ horsepower at this point, so if I thought the extra fuel weight was going to play against me in competetion, I just don't have to fill it up all the way.. LOL

Original Car ________________________________Volvo X
Total Weight 2386lb_____________________________Total Weight 2465lb

Front Weight 1270lb________________________Front Weight 1275lb
Rear Weight 1116lb________________________Rear Weight 1190lb

Weight Distribution___________________________Weight Distribution
Front 53.2% Rear 46.8%_________________________Front 51.7% Rear 48.3%

I had a problem getting Volvo X totally level, and that is why you will see the variation in the cross weight, and that is cause by the floor affecting the contact points on the scales.. It was way to cold to switch the cars around, but I will definitely do that on the final weigh in..

You-know, I was going to ask you if anything had fallen-off or sprung a leak, but kept my mouth shut. It is bound to happen and I'm glad you made 'er through.

I know these figures for weight and all were tossed-about much earlier, but good work! Looking at all those modern cars, they had so much more than you to start-off with - glad you won that award.

I won't likely be able to watch whatever comes up on the TV, can you (or someone-else post on here in August?)

Ha Ha.. It doesn't normally happen, and I joked with the MavTv production crew that it only happen because they made me open my mouth about not having a single tool or support crew with me..

As far as the weights go, the only reason the original cars weights are what they are is because they were only function and utility, and these V8 conversions can be built relatively close to the factory weight if you wanted those same oem comfort sacrifices..

Here is a video of the one of the Wilwood Speed Brake Challenge groups, and when I am on the rev limiter in the video, I am just over 60mph in 1st gear...

Here is a video made up of clips from the Ultimate Street Car Challenge Road Rally B.F. Goodrich Hot Lap Challenge at the Texas Motor Speedway, and I do apologize for not having the full view, but the Wife isn't very good operating the camera and this is all I could salvage..

Good news is, it will be televised in HD coming in August..
