1998 volvo s40 t4
How much bhp can i run through the engine before i need to change pistons and crank.Also what is the nxt turbo upgrade from the std t4 turbo?

Like I said previosuly, depends on the general condition of the engine, and the turbo. You could have a sound engine but a tired turbo, and upping boost might be enough to kill it. Same the other way round.
Stock engines are supposed to be good for around the 300bhp mark, according to what has been written and reported from various sources and forums, but quite what was done to achieve those claimed figures, will no doubt vary. If like me, you are contemplating a long term project that you gradually work on, I'd focus on doing the things that will yield more power, but without necessarily stressing the engine any more. A race cat on it's own, is probably the single biggest improvement you could make (I think I'm right that you have a cat back system)? |

I do have a cat back system (powerflow) there is nothing wrong with the car and its in heathly condition lol.just looking into upgrades for the future
