Exclamation How long does the battery last if....

Hi Everyone, this is my first post!

I bought a 2010 XC90 D5 (SE Lux) over the weekend, it's a dream come true. I have always been a huge Volvo fan - I learned to drive on the old 850 T5, I have owned a c30 in the past and I bought this to transport my kids around.

This morning I came across the fault I have seen as common on this forum, where the daytime running lights don't turn off even after I turn the car off & lock it. I have switched the dial to each setting, but it makes no difference.

I have the car booked in for a full service this Friday anyway, and I have rung the mechanic (a Volvo specialist) to take a look. That means I have to wait from today (Monday). I use the car every day anyway for school/ nursery runs so it will be driven for at least an hour or two daily - will this be enough to charge up the battery each time so it doesn't go flat before Friday, or do I need to do something in the meantime?

Thanks, really glad to be part of this community!

You could probably pull a fuse to stop the lights staying on when parked.

Did you get a handbook with the car?

Cheers

Dave

Thanks Dave - I am not familiar with working with the fuses, but yes I have the user manual, if the battery will definitely run out between now and Friday then I will pull the fuse but Id rather avoid it if possible

Which lights are staying on?

Actually, I don't think it matters really, the battery will be flat by Friday if pretty much any lights are left on for that long.

The trips you are scheduled to make (with attendant start ups) will not put much/enough juice back into the battery.

I would be connecting a charger when the car is sitting (assuming you can ...)

Cheers

Dave

try leaveing the headlight switch in the head light on position the lights may remain on if you have the delay set to allow you to get to your house but should go off after a short time ps dont use the side light position on the switch they dont go off you wont be the first to fall for this particular volvo feature its a thing that catches owners includeing myself in the first week of ownership
