Default Good driver's seat wanted.

The driver's seat of my 89 240GL saloon has a collapsed and broken backrest, so I am looking for a good seat to replace it. Colour is unimportant, but comfort is! My back is complaining...

I'm in Matlock Derbyshire, but willing to travel for a good one.

I had the same problem with old 240GL but I went down my local scrapyard and got a pair of Alfa Romeo 156 front seats. They were really easy to fit, requiring only minor adaption to the runners (no welding). Unfortunately I did lose the heated seat facility but I never used it anyway. I cant remember how I did it as it was 6 years ago.

You should be able to find something nice in your local scrapyard thats far better then the old 240 seats. (Maybe even a pair of newer Volvo seats) and make the runners fit. As you said you are only bothered about one seat and colour doesnt matter then you could go for anything you like.

My current 240 is running Rover 820 Recaros which I made adaptor brackets for and bolted to the Volvo runners.

Mmmm - they do look nice Antz, having been thinking about my seats for a while and the crumbling foam. I was thinking maybe new foam and a retrim but those Recaros look great.
