Default Bulb Failure Light

Recently bought a 940 when ever I turn on the head light the bulb failure light comes but will go off if I flash the full beam lights is this normal. All the bulbs work on the car.

No not normal, you probably have a bulb about to fail, a bad connection or poorly matched bulbs, or faulty low beam in one bulb.

As above, but more likely a bad connection/earth.

My bulb fail light is constantly on after fitting two brand new Bosch brake light bulbs. Never did get to the bottom of it, I'll perhaps have to have another look.

Mine (on a 740) has been on since fitting a pair of Bosch sidelamp bulbs to the front after a previous bulb failed.

My headlamps are also on dimly at all times (i.e. as DRLs) too.

Is there a way of narrowing down the causes to front or rear? All bulbs have been working fine for the last 1000+ miles, but the light remains on.

HID upsets the brake failure circuit from time to time... Do you have HID?

Possible the bulb failure relay could be done. In the op's case I would suggest changing the bulbs on the low beam

The dim dip head light are normal (at least on the 940).

To narrow down the problem circuit you can disconnect bulbs in pairs (left and right) or switch them off until the light goes out.

It's been a while since mine didn't illuminate all the time... should the bulb failure warning light come on with ignition on (before engine started?)
