C70 t5
So in the past 10 years I've had two C70 T5 Manual Convertibles... Got one, kept it 3 years, sold it, missed it, got another one, kept it 3 years, sold it etc.
It's an itch that won't go away no matter what. My personal circumstances now mean I have the storage and the funds that if I do get another, it will be a keeper, likely for 10+ years. I've decided to part with the Spitfire that I've owned for 32 years as I just don't feel safe in it on the roads now, and I've always had at least one convertible in the fold for the past 32 years as I love fresh air motoring (I don't think a Massey Ferguson tractor really counts). So if anyone has a Mk 1 C70 T5 that they are considering selling between now and next spring, please let me know. If I do get another, it will be the right car, I don't mind if it's a minter or a bit of a project - but I would want one with reasonable mileage, good bodywork and without one of the more "trendy at the time" colour schemes - i.e. turquoise paint or blue leather... Would prefer manual but would consider a late (5-speed AW55) auto. PM me or reply on here if you haven't got your 30 posts. I will reply to everyone, I'm not in a hurry, it will likely be October onwards before I can commit (my storage is currently being re-roofed). I am Yorkshire based but travel frequently with work so would consider anything nationally. It will go to a very caring, good home.....

Recently bought a C70 D5 2008.
I had hankered after another open top car after selling my 1963 MGB roadster some time ago. I even considered buying it back or buying another classic open topped car. What I will now say is that any hankering for a classic open topped car has evaporated with the ownership of the C70. Yes it's great to work on the older cars and to derive the satisfaction of a good repair or the result of some detailing, BUT in my advancing years I just want to enjoy the driving experience, without folding soft top frame/s, hardtop exchange for Winter and the overall dated 60's driving experience. Loving the simplicity, useability and pleasure in driving of the C70. Long may it last. Good luck with your search. Now is the time to be looking for that "right" car. |

I have thought about a Mk II but think the Mk 1 is such an attractive car, and it will be for sunny days only so having the fabric roof instead of the tin top isn't an issue (even though they drive like blancmanges...)
And you get the full fat T5... There is a MkII T5 on e-bay at the moment with less that 40k for reasonable money.

So far so good, got me home to Yorkshire from Scotland... A bit of a project though - roof and windows not working. Horrible whine from the engine, suspect power steering pump. But on the plus side, interior is immaculate with very little wear, as is the roof, I suspect it's been renewed at some point. Brakes aren't great either, handbrake wont hold the car on the drive! Will also be looking for a set of Canistos to replace those P2 S60/V70 rims.
