Default 440 td engine conversion

Hi to all, ive recently bought a 96 440 td as a run about, body wise shes pretty clean apart from some rust on one of the rear arches and she comes with fsh, im not sure how long these diesel engines live for but this ones done 186k, im just thinking one day the engines going to break as shes done quite a few miles now, what would i be able to replace it with, are there any turbo petrol engines which will slip right in a 440 diesel that will be relatively easy to get running.

Thanks Phil

If you'll take good care of the 1.9td engine, will run great at least 300k miles. Maybe much more.
You may have some problems with some oil leaks on camshaft seals but it's not something very difficult to repair.

You can put any other engine used on 400 series but it's a bit difficult because you have to change a lot. Including the wiring's, ECU, ABS (for 1.7T)...
I don't think that will worth the effort...
