Just got my quote from RH Insurance, app £130, fully comp with breakdown with the wife also on policy. Biggest problem is mileage limit of 5,000 per year. Chances are I will exceed this as the 240 , 1983, Carb model IS my daily driver. Probably more like 8,000 miles a year ish.
Anybody out there got any other good Insurance Companies worth a shot.
Cheers.

I reckon it is as wise as ever to shop around. Apparently there are some, er, sneaky aspects to how comparison sites function. And location and circumstances might make one person's good provider be another person's second best choice.

There is a thread from about a year ago I remember with some very useful specialist provider links that might help you.

I tried my local branch of a-plan last year. Their 'phone was answered prpmtly by a person, no queing system. I found them to be very diligent brokers. They beat for me the quotes from various providers recommended in the forum, and they beat a comparison site. http://www.aplan.co.uk/a-plan/branch-search

My car insurance is due for renewal soon, early in Advent. So I'm hoping they are still good for a renewal, not just for new business.

I find A-Plan to be very helpful too. No call-centre, they seem to pride themselves on personal service. When I had to renew the premium had gone up so they shopped around for me and found a quote lower than the previous year. Very helpful explaining all the options as well, and I decided to have the house insurance with them as they offered a very favourable premium.

There's a coincidence. As it happens Angie, I also asked them about house insurance and I placed that with them also.

This area was flooded in 1953. My wife remembers seeing fishes in the garden. We have a very serious flood defence for the town now. But it still affects insurance. The a-plan broker did get me a good result for house insurance. The renewal notice has just arrived. It is literally only a few pounds more this year, and still significantly less than other quotes.

I am cautious about brokers losing interest on renewals. I've suffered that in the past. But so far so good with a-plan.

Other brokers are available ...

I have used Adrian Flux in the past and found their initial quote very competitive but renewal quote had me buying elsewhere.

Unfortunately they quoted £500 for my 240! (I do less than 2500 miles per yr)

I am a 43 yr old former driving instructor who has never had an at fault accident.

Now with ASDA costing £240

I do not understand why renewal quotes are not cheaper than previous year (if you have not had an accident or points)

Shame cos I would have stuck with Adrian Flux

Insurance companies should have a loyalty scheme!

Rant over

Mart

I am on this every day, A-Plan have come up with a better quote on Classic Car, ie , 5,000 mile annual limit. Currently quotes of £120 to £130 ish fully comp self and wife on policy. However move up to a 6 to 7,000 mile annual mileage and the price will double !
Hopefully will resolve as I seem to have every UK insurance company and broker phoning me at present following a session on the Internet.
A plan were excellent in their response, RH insurance have been great over the past 3 years on several cars I owned, and I would like to stay with them, just the 5,000 mile limit on the classic policy is a sticking point. Should be somebody out there with some flexibility, 35 years driving with no claims ! , no points , not even a parking ticket, been lucky I suppose ! Cheers.

As an update, A-Plan have renewed my car insurance for a little less than last year's premium.
