Default Alloy and steel rims

Hello everybody. I am new member here and this is my first post. I am sorry because my english is not good (I am living in Bosnia and Herzegovina).

I am volvo S60 owner since five days. It is 2002 model, motor 2,4 (103 kW), automatic transmission, 72000 km, purchased in Germany (Volvo dealer). The last service was with 62000 km. I have two questions:

1. When is the next service interval, and do I need to change oil or something else before service interval?

2. Because the summer tires were too bad, dealer is give to me four winter tires on steel rims. Those tires are of s80 (215/65-16). They look's little bigger then original tires on the car (205/65-16). My question is may I put that tire (with steel rim) on my car, and may I use the same bolts?

Thank you.

Hi ArminH, and welcome to the forum.
your service interval will very much depend on the type and amount of driving you do, your service light will come on when the engine computer decides it is due, if you only do very low miles then you will need to change your oil more often as it wont get up to normal running temp and deteriorate more quickly.
with regards to the tires, the wheels are the same size its just a different profile tire so you should be able to use the same bolts. one way to check is with the wheel off push a bolt through the bolt hole and count how many of the threads on the bolt are showing there should be roughly 5-6 any less you run the risk of there not being enough to hold the wheel on, too much more and they will rub/knock. When you put the wheels on whilst still jacked up spin the wheel and listen out for knocking sounds.
but like i said you only have a different size tire profile so wheels will still be the same size.
oh and one more thing.. your English is much better than my Bosnian!
enjoy your car and again, welcome.
Jason

Thank you. I dont know how I didn't see your answer, so I posted another question about the same thing. The reason for my question is following:
Two days ago I find the owner manual on US volvo site, and it says: "The extended, chromed wheel bolts must not bee used with steel rims, as they make it impossible to fit the hub caps." This is normal to me (my previous car was mercedes W124, and I had two different types of bolts for alloy and for steel wheels).
So, it seem's to me, my wheel bolts are chromed (canaveral wheels), and I don't have the time and the place to make experiments.

My second question (about service intervals) is following: I know my car was in service on 61000 km (36500 miles) in Germany, and I know they are change the brakes, some bulbs etc. But I don't know are they change oil, oil filter, brake oil, air filter etc. Is it all included in regular service? The car was three years old.
Do I need to chek all of it? Do I need to change transmission oil (automatic gearbox) etc?
Now, (72000 km) there is message for regular service on my trip computer.

Thank you.

Ok i understand now!
your chrome bolts will be longer than ones for steel wheels so yes you will need to use steel bolts as the thickness of the steel wheel is considerably less than alloy wheels.
if your service light has come on then it is due, and yes it should cover the things you mentioned, apart from the brake fluid, this is changed every 5 years (i believe) as it absorbs moisture and its efficiency reduces over time.
